Typhoons, Cyclones and Hurricanes! Oh My!
Lions, Tigers and Bears, Oh my, tells the fear of Dorthy and her friends as they walk through the shadowy forest, though a hundred mile wind might bring their fear level up a notch.
Today, I went to the Weather Channel, hoping the weather will cool down soon (in two weeks there's hope). The site has videos on weather patterns and a few different subjects (they love giant spiders), one video stated that enormous hurricanes are predicted by scientist, and another described a cyclone spinning relentlessly, for several weeks in the Pacific. The video also labeled it a typhoon, and I realized my knowledge, in typhoons and cyclones, is clearly lacking.
What was the difference between these three natural disasters? The answer depends on where a person lives in the world since all three phenomena are the same, only the names have changed.
Though no matter where you live, they are a scary reminder that mother nature doesn't play around.
